Steve's Coats for Kids - Glen Garris haircut January
2008
One of Waxhaw VFD's volunteer firefighters, Glen Garris,
has recently retired from the Charlotte Fire Department
after 29 years of service. He had made a $500 bet with a
friend that he could go a year with out cutting his
hair. All the money would be used to buy coats for the
annual collection of Steve’s Coats For Kids. He won and
decided to try another fund raiser in order to buy more
coats for Steve’s Coats For Kids. He pledged that he
would shave his head if he could raise at least $2000
for coats. He raised over $3000 for new coats. On
Saturday January 12th, he had his head shaved. Several
supporters attended the event including members from
Jackson VFD with a fire engine and rescue and members
from Waxhaw VFD with Engine 27.Here are some
additional links to read about Glen's donation to
Steve’s Coats For Kids.
